April is National Poetry Month

Hello, it is I: the wandering little colorful butterfly, come to rant my rants, and write my feelings!

Some of you may know me, some may not. I once logged about health & wellness, and while I still may blog about that every once in a less than blue moon, there's a whole other side of me, like most folks.

I haven't written in a while for various reasons, or excuses, whatever you want to lay on my shoulders probably has some merit to it. Hell, I haven't been particularly creative in any ways for quite some time. I think it's high time I changed that!

So, I found out the other day that there is such thing as A)National Poetry Month and B)NaPoWriMo (napowrimo.net). Much like there is such thing as a National Month to write Novels or Novellas (or is it longer than simply ONE month?), and a website to help you with that endeavor: NaMoWriMo, I found that there's also a website that helps with the endeavor to write a poem or publish a poem in some capacity each day of April.

I have gleaned it, and I'm almost 9 days behind already. There's so much information in one little blurb for each day. I've already said yes, and I think I may have been lying to myself again about this matter/delusion... I dunno...

The reason I had to lookup my old Blogging Spot because of April is that I came up with a poem I thought befit Portland Oregon pretty well last week. It was in March, just to be fair. But me having written anything took me by surprise!

I'm hoping that this will be the return of something within me that I felt was taken away little by little by, well... life. Nere-do-wells who cannot stand to see anyone but themselves receive attention, the workplace...

I'm hoping you'll like my contribution for getting back into the creative arts! Mainly: POETRY! Ok, so let's go!

This next one (HA!) goes out to those folks who took the Hippie's place in social genre, for better or worse.

*This doesn't follow any prompt from NaPoWriMo, it is Freestyle. I like it that way!*

Hipsters with Handlebars

There he goes
Smiling that particular waxen smile
Maybe he's serving your food
Maybe he's screaming a Doomsday Report
into a vacuum of alike minds
Perhaps they rove in pairs or thruples
Perhaps they travel alone
But there are few qualities that stand
out more
Than the Smart Shoes
And that Lovely Handlebar
Maybe a jauntily placed cap
Maybe a scarf casually tossed around
the neck in midsummer
And there he goes
Perhaps off to the beach
Perhaps a poetry reading in The Plaza
With that ever waxen face, rather
plastic in nature
That faintly sarcastic, knowing smile
Those perfectly highlighted cheekbones
He thinks he's unique
So unique there is a label for all of them
The lovely folks that all wear Smart
Shoes
Think granddad's Wingtips
And their signature "Unique, just like
Everyone Else" look could never be
complete
Without those rather
Fetching Handlebars
